240 million people. Just 7 athletes. Pakistan: Paris — The Wrath of Hard Welcome?

Guess what? Good News: Arshad Nadeem is To Be a Flag Bearer Of Pakistan At the Paris Games 2024 However, Pakistan has not qualified for the Games this time. As a result, only 7 athletes will represent the country.

There have been so many stories to tell; all the grit, and then some gold and hockey glory. Pakistan has won gold medals in all of its Olympic categories which includes Hockey as well. As we go back the line, in the 1956 Melbourne Games Pakistani men's hockey team took their first ever gold medal. The last one was—surprise! —also in hockey, at the 1992 Barcelona Games. And now, everyone hopes to snap that cold spell. One is at the opening ceremony in Paris, minus its favorite winter sports team. Coming up…we seek updates on the 2024 Paris Olympics!

Some Pakistani fans were angry on the explosive day launching of the 2024 Summer Games by French President Emmanuel Macron. Well this one, made by a commentator during the opening ceremony, really hit home. Pakistan is a nation of over 200 million people and only boasts 7 Olympians!

That said X inspired a rabble-rousing discussion on the usual social media channels.

Over 240 million people and only account for a few players?

There was talk of embarrassment. Reactions came in, one of them being an extreme reaction; "Who are these responsible ones?" The reactions filled online: "So Pakistan is huge...... well yes! But we only have 7 competing! It hurts." One other person said the same with #Paris2024 & #Olympics

Well, how come after that miserable start Pakistan performed in the Paris Olympics?

The men's 10m air pistol qualifier with Joseph Gulfam kicked off the campaign on Saturday. Which resulted in a 22nd overall finish with a score of 571. India's Sarbjot Singh bagged a bronze in the mixed-team event but was placed ninth here, just ahead of Gulfam. In the women's air pistol qualifications at these Games, Pakistani contender Kushmala Talat finished 31st on the table. Oh, Manu Bhakar of India grabbed the third spot in that category itself & also created history by winning the Bronze medal!

Keep an eye out for more updates on how our athletes carry forward!
